Ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer resin (EVA resin for short) is the fourth largest ethylene series polymer after high-density polyethylene, low-density polyethylene, and linear low-density polyethylene.

Compared with polyethylene, EVA is widely used in foam shoe materials, functional greenhouse films, packaging films, hot melt adhesives, wires and cables, and toys due to the introduction of vinyl acetate (VA) monomer in the molecular chain, which reduces high crystallinity, improves flexibility, impact resistance, filler compatibility, and heat sealing function.

The application scope of EVA

1. Foam shoe material

Shoe materials are the primary application range of EVA resin in China. The content of vinyl acetate in EVA resin used in shoe materials is generally between 15% and 22%. Due to its softness, good elasticity, and chemical corrosion resistance, EVA resin blended foam products are widely used in the soles and interior materials of high-end travel shoes, hiking shoes, slippers, and sandals.

2. Functional greenhouse film

Functional greenhouse film has high weather resistance (weather resistance refers to the test of outdoor weather conditions), anti fog and insulation functions. Adding a certain amount of EVA resin to the greenhouse film not only has high light transmittance, but also greatly improves the anti fog function.

3. Packaging film

EVA packaging film, also known as environmentally friendly film, is a new generation of green and biodegradable material produced by extrusion of EVA material. It is biodegradable, will not cause damage to the environment when discarded or burned, has a light density, is odorless, does not contain heavy metals, has super low temperature resistance (-70 ℃), is resistant to water, salt and other substances, and has high heat resistance.

4. Hot melt adhesive

Hot melt adhesive, primarily composed of EVA resin, is highly suitable for automated assembly line production due to its solvent-free nature, environmental friendliness, and high safety. Therefore, it is widely used in wireless book binding, furniture edge sealing, assembly of cars and household appliances, carpet coating, and metal anti-corrosion coating.

5. Wires and cables

With the continuous development of computer and network engineering, people are increasingly using halogen-free flame-retardant cables and silane cross-linked cables for the sake of computer room security. Moreover, EVA resin has good filler inclusiveness and crosslinkability.

6. EVA toys

Toys processed with EVA resin have good softness and elasticity, and their exterior gloss and chemical stability are also very good. They are anti-aging, ozone resistant, non-toxic, and are very good environmental protection materials. EVA puzzles, soft shells, rocket launchers, bows and arrows, swords and other children's toys belong to soft bodies and will not damage children. They are no longer afraid of babies being hurt or gum damage when eating toys.
